What is Sophos scanning?

I am running a web application, connecting from a client PC running an evaluation copy of Sophos.  The application performs terribly unless I switch off on-access scanning.  I know that the web server is secure so I am happy to disable any checking between my client PC and the web server.  I have tried excluding everything I can think of files, folders, IP addresses but nothing helps the perfromance.

How can I see what files are being checked so I can add them to the exclusions?

I have turned off checking on all local drives so it must be something to do with the web access.

  • Hi,

    Have you tried authorizing the address of the server under:

    Configure -> Anti-Virus -> Authorization -> Websites

    Do you have SAV version: 10.0.4 as seen from "View product information"?

    If the authorization doesn't help, does it help to stop the service: "Sophos Web Intelligence Service "?

    Regards,

    Jak

  • Hi Jak,

    Yes, I have tried authorizing the address of the web server.  I have tried its IP address, it's IP address with its subnet mask and its domain name.  It's a VM so I have also tred authorizing the IP address of the VM host just in case.

    According to the Product Information, its version 10.0.

    Switching off the Web INtelligence service does make it go much faster.  I am concerned though about what the implications of this are.
