Once upon a time this was a work around - though not officially supported.
Read the entire thread, I think the script was clever, though I never actually tried it myself. I probably will be revisting this soon unless a documented method becomes available.
I am not aware of a Mac method to force group membership upon registration.
As far as I know the accepted method is send them to Unassigned and sift through them after they arrive and drag them to their home groups.

Nor are there installer switches, the option to Protect computers and a flexible RMS as in Windows (i.e. the possibility to direct the client to a different management server or message relay by means of a mrinit.conf-configured CID) - yet. It has been said that more features will be put into the Mac version (Application Control for example) and who knows what else is in the pipe.
