Cannot update External endpoints

Hi all,

I've seen various posts related to this but cannot follow the solutions as my problem appears to be different.

None of my external computers can update their endpoint protection. Inside the domain and they will update ok. Soon as they go externally they cannot update with the message "cannot contact server". Primary source is server and secondary is with Sohos using my credentials.

Stuff I've tried:

  • I've tried the standalone client and entered the credentials given to me by Sophos but that doesn't work either.
  • I thought it might be something to do with Windows firewall so I installed sophos firewall instead and the same problem occurs.
  • Put the credentials in secondary source too, same problem.
  • Tried seeing if I can get the Sophos updating servers via internet browser

dci.sophosupd.net

d2.sophosupd.net

 can get them ok.

  • This has happened to four different computers running either windows 7 64bit Pro or Home. I haven't tried XP or Vista.

Any ideas would be appreciated

    this log doesn't say more than that it's aware it has to update from Sophos (SDDSUpdate) instead from a CID but fails. Maybe the ALUpdateyyyymmddT[...].log (from %ProgramData%\Sophos\AutoUpdate\logs\) has more information about the reason for the failure. Please post a snippet here (it should not be too hard to identify the relevant lines).
