Install Enterprise Console, Puremessage and Antivirus on a new server...

Dear all,

I will change our existing Sophos installation to a new server, but don't know wich is the best way. Hope somebody can help me.

Old server:

Domain controller, Windows 2003, x32, Exchange 2003, SQL 2005 Express, Sophos Enterprise console 4.5 + Puremessage + Antivirus. All installed on one machine. The machine speed goes down and I will install Sophos on a different machine...

New server:

Domain member, Windows 2008 R2, x64, SQL 2008 Express. On this machine I will install the complete Sophos package. The server is joined to the domain, installed and configured as SMTP server with 3 domains and later on I will configure our firewall to use this server as frontend mail server with internal forwarding to the old Exchange server.

Can't find any helpful dokumentation abaout this procedure...

Thanks in advanced

    hope you are well.

The install file for enterprise console stays the same for the new OS, howver, there is a seperate install file for Puremessage for the 64bit OSes compared to the one you have currently for the 32bit OS.

You will need to download the install file specifically for 64bit systems. here is the link to download it.

    https://secure.sophos.com/support/updates/puremessage.html

sophos will automatically install all the pre-requisties that is required to run.

Here is a suggestion, if you are going to install the console on the new server, why dont upgrade Sophos the same time.

There is a new version of the console out, v4.7.

please backup the following key from the old server:

    regedit | HKLocalmachine | Softeware | Sophos | Cetrification mananger | certauthstore

    Databases:

    C:\Program files\ Microsoft SQL Server\ Sophos\

following databases need to be backed up: Sophos45.ldf, Sophos45.mdf.

Stope the service following service before copying databases: SQL(sophos) service

Regardless if your upgrading or just moving servers. please put this key in to the new server registry before installing Sophos, this key store your endpoint information.

once backed, Sophos does the rest on install. Install the enterprise console first, then Puremessage

    Kind regards
