Sophos AV 7.6.2 upgrade to 9.5 problems

Hello Everyone,

I could use some help solving a problem. One of our XP computers has been off of our network for quite some time, when it was last on it had Sophos Anti-Virus 7.6.2 for windows on it. Somehere along the lines the installation files got deleted. After bringing the computer back on to the network, anytime you try to uninstall the program from add/remove programs It says it can not find the correct installation.msi and then cancels the uninstall.

I'm fairly certain all i need is the old 7.6.2 install files to fix this, but im at a loss at where to find it.

    Hello Lynx,

    must be really quite some time :smileyvery-happy:... I doubt that anyone has the files at hand except Sophos. I had one or two 7.6 clients with the same problem. Just zilched the 7.6 Installer information with the help of msicuu2, then installed 9.5. Installing 9.5 "over" 7.6 is not the recommended way though (read: Sophos or the entire XP might become FUBAR).
    Just curious, XP - SP2 already?

    Yes, Windows XP Pro - SP2. I've been searching since I posted and I cannot find the any old version install files. Its very bothersome because 9.5 refuse to install with it 7.6.2 on the system, and 7.6.2 refuses to uninstall without the uninstaller. its like a chinese finger trap.

    Hello Lynx,

    as 7.6 was released Sept 2008 I assume 7.6.2 is from Nov 2008. Guess your best chance is you ask Support.
