How to "just" add Patch Assessment to endpoint machines ?

Hello,

I just want to add the Patch module on our computers and it seems the console reinstalls the whole Endpoint program, judging by the time it took.

No way I'm going through a redeployement !

Am I wrong ? Or is there a workaround ?

Thanks.

  • Hello PJ,

you are right that you can't use SEC to just "add" Patch.

If you have a way to add registry keys on the client (e.g. startup scripts) then How to install the Sophos Patch Agent without re-deploying Sophos will help.

  • Thanks for your quick answer.

Bad news, then. Need I say we were expecting to deploy Patch Assessment afterwards...

Still, I don't see why the console could not apply the registry trick as it's got full rights. Maybe I should do a feature request ?

well, on the surface it seems simple enough. But I can imagine that such a simlple hack wouldn't make it through QA.as there are likely some pitfalls.

Would do no harm - but I fear it won't get high priority.

Now if SEC can protect the computers you could as well script the reg command to set the necessary keys on the clients. How many clients? As you sad Bad news I assume you don't have AD?
