Why does the console not show successful updates from secondary server ?

Hello,

Everything is in the title.

I've got a few machine online that show update status "unknown" and it says update failed from main server but the machine is up to date and its local log says update from secondary was OK. So ?

Thanks.

  • HI,

I suspect it's for the scenario where you configure a primary and secondary.  The secondary being for failover, so when the primary is unavailable you want to know as it could indicate a problem.  If it failed over, updated from the secondary and there wasn't an alert how would you know there was a problem with the primary?

    As for being "Unknown":

    /search?q= 7481

should help.  Essentially the client is reporting a combination of information (SAV Version, IDEChecksum, etc..) which is unknown to the SEC server becasue that information has not been passed to the system from  SUM.

    Regards,

    Jak
