using Microsoft Access for reporting

I am quite new to Sophos and are rolling it out to our estate. We have been using MacAfee which has good reporting functions (just a shame it doesn't catch any viruses!!). As far as I can see the reporting is quite poor. Has anyone set up reports in Access linking the tables from the SQL database? One report I have created in MacAfee tells me the user logged onto a PC, what OU its in and the OS.

Any help would be much appreciated

Sophos does provide advanced reporting options.

It integrates into common programs for reporting such as Splunk and Crystal reports.

The guides may give you more insight as to what you are looking for.

On a side note, there are a few ways to view the PC, OU and OS in the console.

If there are a variety of users using one machine (Such as in a call centre with shifts, a university or hotels)

it would be hard to stipulate which users are dedicated to which machine.

Sophos DOES tell you which user triggers an alert (a threat, device event, application event, etc)

This can be seen when you are looking at the events (You can aswell search per user) or on the machines details (Double click on the machine in the Enterprise console)

For the OS, In the Enterprise Console, there are tabs just below the smart view drop down (In between the dashboard and the list of machines) which you can select to find out information such as OS, IP, Domain, Service Pack, etc

(We had a client that would update the Computer description with a script detailing which user and at which time they logged in, in the console you can see the computer description and would instantly know who, and when - if you are interested in the script let me know)

On the OU side, where the Enterprise console Integrates into Active Directory is on the container level, only looking at machines and not users. The console can replicate the OU structure with added benefits to automatically install Sophos if a machine joins the domain (If you search on the Sophos site for Active directory it will give you all the details.)

There are programs to view all of those in one and manage accordingly, but sophos isnt a user management utility.

Sophos is machines based and not user based, It is to secure machines, independent of user or rights or title.

Threats dont limit themselves to only looking at the CFO's machine.

    Hope the above information assist.

If you do have some time, phone Sophos or your local provider and ask them to assist with the migration or show you how you can make sophos work more effectively for you. (notifications, AD integration, policies)

Sophos prides themselves in assisting clients utilize all the product has to offer.

It adds greater and a more holistic protection and thats what Sophos is here to do.
