Where to go?

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask about virus or malware specifics.  I'm having an issue where certain effects are occuring to multiple systems at my work and all I know is that it's some sort of malware or virus but I don't know which to be able to protect against it.  Google searches for the symptoms return nothing useful so I'mhoping to find a place where I can talk to others who might have an idea as towhat's happening.

If this is a good place, i can respond with details, if not, please direct me to a place that might be good.

    Thanks Jak, that autoruns thing is someything that could be really useful!

    We are currently running Sophos Endpoint 9.5 but I seriously doubt our admins are using it properly as up to half of my workload is still dealing with malware and virus infections.

    At any rate, the symptoms we're having is that computers will start displaying fake malware, virus detections or hardware failures.  The entire contents of the C: drive become hidden and all icons in the Start menu vanish.  The only way we've found to fix this is to re-image the system but I'm getting really tired of doing that every few days.

    Another symtom being experienced, though I have no way of knowing if it's related, is that several users are able to boot to their log in but within moments the system will shutdown on it's own.  If it manages to stay up long enough to try and log in, the log in fails and then the system shuts down.

    Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
