Sophos client on Sophos Enterprise Console

I'm new to Sophos, so go easy on me. I've worked with other AV vendors before and usually when you install their primary server they also install their AV client on the server. On a Sophos Enterprise Console v5 we've just installed I don't see the Sophos client installed. Is the server protected or do I also need to install the client on the primary server?

  • HI,

You need to protect the server, at the moment you've just installed the management software.  You should see the server listed in the console.  Typically you would create a group and move the server into it, this will link it to the default updating policy, you can then right click on it and run therough the protect wizard.

    Essentially it will run:

    \\[servername]\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP \setup.exe

with a few switches, see: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/12570.html for more info on setup.exe.
