Sophos antivirus 8.0.1 mac - Can't enable on-access scan

Any one else having the issue that on-access scanning won't enable.  The start/stop button is greyed out, so I can't even cycle the optios.  I'm on the administrator account and I've tried reinstalling and restarting but that doesn't do anything.

Any suggestions?
