Mac OSX firewall and MountHelper

Hi,

We have recently rolled out the Endpoint and Security client to our machines.  Now on our Mac's we are getting a firewall prompt to allow/deny a MountHelper service.  Despite setting it showing and set to allowed in the local firewall it keeps prompting for it, any ideas as to how to stop this?

  • We struggled with the application firewall prompts on Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 machines and finally gave up.  We're going to try to educate users to click "Allow" on the two firewall dialogs that pop up.  We figured that even if we were able to create application firewall exceptions, the exceptions are reset whenever the Sophos apps are updated.

    We are getting firewall dialogs for:

    • SophosMessageRouter
    • SophosManagementAgent

    We think this could be resolved if Sophos signed the Mac apps as described at:

    Apple's Code Signing Guide
