Sophos Endpoint 9.7 upgrade to 10.0 - System requeriments

The system requeriments for both are the same? Or do I need hardware or OS changes?

Additionaly: Some system requeriments changes for maintenance releases?

  • Hi,

In terms of the server side (SEC), MSMQ is a new requirement and is installed for you as part of the installer.  The insall will continue to use SQL 2005 if that's what your using.  There are a few more services but nothing that should drastically change the requirements for the hardware.  The new installer has all the pre-checks in it; so even if you don't want to run the upgrade just yet you can still run the setup.exe, this just performs all the pre-checks and gathers the information before passing it on to the MSIs.

As for the client, I believe the requirements in terms of memory has been raised from 256 to 512 to accommodate the additional features and maybe the slightly more aggressive scanning options that are on by default on fresh installs.  This is not mandated by the installer just recommendations. TBH, I suprised this hasn't been increased before now, I'm not sure how many machines are running 256MB of memory now.  For fresh installs on-read, on-write and on-rename are enabled.  On upgrades the scanning options are the same.  See: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/114345.html for more information.

http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/114215.html is also worth a scan.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Jak
