Sophos Device Control Service error 0xa0490001

One of our servers has started reporting that the Sophos Device Control Service cannot start error 0xa0490001. This results in on-access scanning being disabled.

We have tried re-installing from the central installation but the result is the same.

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

the Sophos Diagnostic Utility will collect a number of potentially relevant logs as well as quite some system information. Please see Sophos Diagnostic Utility (SDU): how to use it to send files to Sophos Technical Support for details.
