  • Hi,

That sounds most odd to me.  The only issue a while back regarding the indexing service was:

    http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/59494.html

The most identifiable symptom being the error: CIDSYNC_E_CIDSWAPERROR in the AutoUpdate logs.  This was due to the Windows indexing service locking url files.  The workarounds being to either stop indexing or exclude the AutoUpdate cache directory, I think it was, from indexing.

I believe the Sophos product now makes the exclusion in the indexing service at install but I don't believe it would be a dependency should it not be there.  However if it is helping I would think you could set the service to automatic in group policy, under the "Windows settings\security settings\system services".

    Thanks
