Deploying Sophos AV to remote geographical location

Hi All,

I am looking at deploying Sophos AV to different geographical location with the following setup in-mind:

1. Sophos Entreprise Console located in Singapore Head Office,

2. Various locations around Asia (eg. Vietnam, India, Malaysia etc) link via VPN

Questions:

1. Is there a way for me to install an Update Server in each location such that each update server will either query the Sophos Entreprise Console in HQ or from Sophos Update site for updates? The respective update server will then act as the update server for that area where the local PCs can get their updates from.

2. I tried to install Sophos AV in India on the Domain Controller using both the setup.exe and a batch file with obfuscated setting but the installation is not successful and I got this error : "Failed to install SAVXP: The MSI has failed.". I have installed using the setup.exe and batch file on hundreds of PCs and got no problem. I got the repository on \\server01\sophosupdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP, where is the files neccessary for installation on Windows 2003 R2 SP2, Windows XP Professional 32/64bits?

Hello Lawrence,
you can setup a child SUM in these loctions (and perhaps you should configure them also as message relays). You can setup both your main SUM or Sophos or both as update source for your childs (and take a look at How to specify an authoritative/master update manager).
The install location is the same for all (recent) Windows OS so youd have to take a look at the logs (in %windir%\Temp) to determine the cause of the failed install.
