Deploying Sophos AV to multiple forest

Hi All,

I have the following enterprise office setup:

1. ForestA is where the Sophos Enterprise Console is installed and managing the endpoints.

2. ForestB is another company which has just joined my organisation.

I have setup SEC to import computers and containers from Active Directory from both forest and into separate container on SEC. I have also setup synchronise update from the 2 Active Directory. I am having trouble pushing SophosAV to ForestB and end up having to install SophosAV from the workstation in ForestB. I have created a user with sophos rights and domain admin right in both forest and I still can't push to ForestB.

Questions:

1. Is there a document on how to manage different active directory on a single SEC installation?

2. Is there a document on "Manage roles and sub-estates" and how I can use it in my setup?

Hello Lawrence,
for roles please see: Best practice: designing sub-estates and role-based administration (and the related Best practice: designing groups in Enterprise Console).
There's also a short article named Enterprise Console: multiple domain support. Any specific error message to describe the trouble you have pushing the install?

Hi All,
I have install Sophos AV on a Windows XP Pro SP3 but the Sophos Anti-Virus service is not starting. The rest of the Sophos services is not having any problem.
This is the log I gathered from C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temp

2011-10-12 22:33:48 CEventLogger::LogEventError unable to log the following error to the EventLog: a0030017 LogController (null) (null)

2011-10-12 22:33:48 CMarshallingWrapper::CMarshallingWrapper: SM.Start( g_RegPath, pManager )() returned 0x800706b5
2011-10-12 22:33:48 Exception caught in CInfrastructureModule::PreMessageLoop
2011-10-12 22:33:48 CEventLogger::LogEventError unable to log the following error to the EventLog: a0030000 CInfrastructureModule::PreMessageLoop (null) (null)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times but the Sophos Anti-virus service is still the same. Any idea what is wrong?

Found out the Event Log service was disabled. Once I start the service, Sophos Anti-Virus serv ice start without problem.
