Question about quarantine

Hi!

Yesterday, I got a message on my screen that Sophos found some kind of malware or something. Sophos put it into Quarantine Manager and I saw the file there. As I was about to take action and remove the file, it just disappeared. I did the "Scan local drives" today and no threats were found.

Does this mean the malware was removed? I didn't do anything, though. Does Sophos do this sometimes?

Just in case, I'm using Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition (free) on Mac OS X.

  • Hello cha,

depending on settings and the threat found Sophos might attempt to cleanup and the specific cleanup might take some time to complete - meanwhile you'll se the detection on QM. Also, as files in caches are automatically deleted by the caching application, SAV could detect that a quarantined file (note that they are not in a specisl location but stay where they are) is or has been deleted and thus removes the record in QM.
