Unable to start Sophos Anti-Virus service

1.  We've started reusing an old RM Window Box computer while one of our newer computers is out of action.

Sophos is in the list of programs, but there is no blue shield on the task bar.

When I clicked on the program I got a message saying 'Unable to start Sophos Anti-Virus Service'.

No clue why or what to do.

I tried downloading the latest standalone version and got a message saying it was already on the system.

How do I get it to work? :smileymad:

A separate problem, the person who knew the passwords is not at school now and I cannot find any paperwork for Sophos.

It is on our other machines though, and working, including those with IE8.

How can I find out the credentials to enter if I ever get the program working? :smileysad:

Thanks.

  • Hello again,

I had managed to download a new version of Sophos

I know, it's a bit of a blur but I have to ask: From where and using which credentials?

If you view the update location on one of the new computers - what is the primary location's address?

and when I look for the password it is just a row of circles

Now that you mention it - indeed! Must've changed somewhen. I've always used 5 to 8 asterisks for my passwords 'cause this is (or rather: was) the only character which displayed correctly. ... :smileyvery-happy:  :smileyvery-happy: Sorry - couldn't resist :smileywink:
