Unable to start Sophos Anti-Virus service

1.  We've started reusing an old RM Window Box computer while one of our newer computers is out of action.

Sophos is in the list of programs, but there is no blue shield on the task bar.

When I clicked on the program I got a message saying 'Unable to start Sophos Anti-Virus Service'.

No clue why or what to do.

I tried downloading the latest standalone version and got a message saying it was already on the system.

How do I get it to work? :smileymad:

A separate problem, the person who knew the passwords is not at school now and I cannot find any paperwork for Sophos.

It is on our other machines though, and working, including those with IE8.

How can I find out the credentials to enter if I ever get the program working? :smileysad:

Thanks.

  • We update from Sophos.

That particular machine started working properly when an engineer came in to take off a virus.

I had managed to downlaod a new version of Sophos for standalone computers before he came in.

Maybe that kickstarted it back into life.

It was during half term and is a bit of a blur now.

I'm not at school at the moment so can't answer your other questions, except to say the laptop in my classroom also doesn't have the shield but has the program.

I can't believe I'm going to have to download something else onto that computer.

Would the password transfer into the new version?

That is what I haven't got.

The new computers in the ICT suite have got Sophos working and when I look for the password it is just a row of circles.
