Workstation pulls in Update Policy But Nothing Else

One of our workstations has the Sophos client installed and is fully functional, however is listed in the "Error" section of the Console with only the Update status as "Same as Policy". All other policies are blank/have no settings associated with it.

The workstation was just swapped out yesterday and named the same as another workstation that it replaced, so I don't know if if this would affect it at all.

Any suggestions as to fix the problem? I've tried reinstalling the Sophos client, that has not helped.

  • HI,

I would suggest the following steps:

    1. delete the pkc and pkp values for both the router and the agent under:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\[Wow6432Node]\Sophos\Messaging System\Router\Private

    and
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\[Wow6432Node]\Sophos\Remote Management System\ManagementAgent\Private

    2. Ensure that the adapter keys exist under:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\[Wow6432Node]\Sophos\Remote Management System\ManagementAgent\Adapters

ALC, SAV, SCF and that the dlls are referenced.  Easiest to check a working machine for the keys and paths that should be there.  These essentially enable the Sophos Agent to talk to the managed applications. If you have SAU but are missing SAV and SCF for example this could explain your partial management status.

    3. Restart the Sophos Message Router and Sophos Agent service.

Within aminute you should have the 2 pkc values for the router and agent,  The client should then end up sending in a status message.

    Note:

    Also worth checking that:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sophos\Messaging System\Router \ParentAddress
is the address of the management server on the machine.

    Hope it helps.
