e-mail allerting form Message Relay in DMZ?

Hello,

I'm running SEC 5.2 on one Sever connected to 3 Message Relay Servers (MRS).

Two of the MRS are located in 2 different DMZ and the third one is located in a neighbor domain / ip-net.

I configured e-mail alerting in the Anti-virus policies.

Now I get e-mail alerts from all machines connected directly to the SEC server and form those connected to the MRS in the neighbor domain.

But I don't get any e-mail form the 2 MRS that are located in the DMZ's.

All three MRS are configured the sameand are working fine.

What am I doing wrong?

Do I need to open the SMTP port beween the DMZ-MRS and the SMTP-Server.

Who is sending the e-mail message? SEC server or MRS? I cant find anything about this in the sophos help or knowledgebase.

regards Joerg

  • Hello Joerg,

email alerts configured in the policies are sent from the client. Thus the client must be able to connect to and send via the mailserver. Neither SEC or an MR is involved.

  • Hello Christian,

thank you for the help/information. So we will use the Report Manager for the DMZ alerting.

Now that I know this, I could have found this by myself, having a look in the e-mail header of one of the alert mails ...

    regards  Joerg
