adding exclusions on OS X clients from Sophos Console

I want to exclude some directories on the OS X client to improve performance. I understand the risks. Can I enter paths as shown? does sophos understand the use of the ~ character to denote home directories and * for wildcards?

Here are the paths:

/private/var/vm/*.*

~/Library/FileSync/*.*

~/Library/caches/com.apple.safari/*.*
~/Library/Safari/*.*
~/Library/Cookies/*.*

~/Virtual_Machines/*.*

  • Hello mdporter,

the user guide (chapter 2.2.2.3) describes the possibilities and says no wildcards. From that I assume that for example Library/ will exclude everything in any folder called Library and its subfolders. It might exclude more than you want though. OTOH I'm not sure if it's wise to exclude caches as this - AFAIK - would prevent scanning of web content (like the recent FakeAVs for example).
