New IPADS in the office

I was wondering, if someone plugs in an IPAD into the computer will Sophos Anti-Virus scanner protect the computer and connected network from anything on the IPAD?

Will there be a possibility of something running on the IPAD connecting through the link and or Itunes that will steal information from our computers or Network?

We use the on access scannning for both read and write on the computers.

    Hello Rodeoboy,

    external devices always pose a risk, especially if their content is allowed to run on the host system automatically. If you are worrying about an app on the iPad "sucking" content from the PC or Mac - that's very unlikely, as it needs some "partner" on the host system to communicate. Could iTunes be this - possible but not very likely.

    Plug and play and autorun, while convenient for the user, are a convenient path for malware to get in. Disabling autorun is a good idea because it might prevent a new and yet unknown thret from running (there's still the chance that the user deliberately runs it).

    All this is not specific to the iPad though.
