I am trying to set up Sophos Enterprise Console 4.5 on a W2003 Server that does not have Internet Access to the Sophos website. I've done this a few times before so I know it's possible but something isn't working this time.
The installation seems to have gone OK and I've got to the stage where you start up Enterprise Console for the first time and the "Download Security Software Wizard" pops-up. Because I don't have an Internet Connection I cancel this Wizard (I am pretty sure that's what I've always done in the past). Then I populate my "SophosUpdateManager" share with a "CIDs" and a "Warehouse" by copying them across from a different Server which does have a connection to the Sophos website.
Then I go to the Update Manager and edit its configuration so the "Source" is the "SophosUpdateManager" share and the "Subscription is "Recommended".
Then I want to edit the "Recommended" subscription and make sure that the Platform is set to "Windows 2000 and above".
But this is where I am stuck. I never get to see the window where I set the Platform to "Windows 2000 and above".
The problem is I keep getting a message saying "At least one Update Manager must be configured to update from Sophos before you can create or modify software subscriptions. Would you like to run the Download Security Software Wizard to configure the local update manager".
As I mentioned above, there is no point me running the "Download Security Software Wizard" because I'm not on the Internet, and I'm pretty sure the method I describe above of manually populating the "SophosUpdatManager" share with a "CIDs" and a "Warehouse" by copying them from a different Server was OK in the past.
Can anybody help me to get this thing configured ?
Thanks
Peter
