Cannot Install Remote Management Agent on Puremessage Server

When trying to push the Sophos client to the PureMessage server we receive this error:

Error Product installation failed RMSNT 0x80070002

It is also stating it cannot find the updating information for Puremessage, but I believe that is because it is not pulling down the secondary location server, which is Sophos.

  • Hello mbjoe,

I've seen 0x80070002 (on a standard endpoint, not PM) when RMS should be upgraded from 3.4 to 4.0. Suggests that some file can't be found. Other than the 0x80070002 in the ALUpdate log there is no other information about the failure though - the Application Event log even claims a successful install of 4.0.2, there's no RMS Uninstall log and there are no logs which mention this error. The installed version is still 3.4.1 causing the upgrade attempt to be repeated with each AutoUpdate cycle (until I direct the endpoint to the Extended subscription with RMS 3.4.1). Unfortunately the endpoint is not available for closer inspection or troubleshooting.

Do you see the error in SEC? This would suggest that RMS is working - was the managed Endpoint software already installed before you used Protect Computers?
