On-Access Windows Exclusions

Hello,

I would like some clarification around On-Access Windows Exclusions.

If I add a folder exclusion like this:

C:\Temp\

Will that exclude all files and subdirectories within that folder?

How does adding an asterix wildcard changed thingS?

C:\Temp\*

Lastly, if I add a file without using a path:

pagefile.sys

Will Sophos exclude all files by that name regardless of which partition or directory they might be located?

Thanks,

Russ

  • Hello Russ,

    C:\Temp\

applies to a files and subfolders (one should be careful with excluding \Temp locations though)

    C:\Temp\*

is a file exclusion and excludes all extensionless files directly under C:\Temp\

    pagefile.sys

applies to any file with this name regardless of its location
