How to move the patch assessment thirdparty folder to an other drive.

We are running into a major problem on our C drive. Sophos SEC is downloading a big patch:

MS 2739159 Update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 (All Languages).pls

It is downloading this patch twice and stores them in folders called

%servername%\C$\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Patch\ThirdParty\windows\x86\no\apps.lst

%servername%\C$\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Patch\ThirdParty\windows\x86_64\no\apps.lst

This Patch\Thirdparty folder has been growing the last year, But this is to much in one day. We would like to move the folder over to an other location on the same server. Can this be done, and if so, how? We have moved the database and CID folders over, but I can not find an instruction to move the Patch folder.

Moving it and editing the registry or setings files is no problem. If it can be done I would like to receive an instruction.

Thanks in advance

  • I've called Support on Wednesday and they promised to look into it (while I had space problems I could free enough so everything kept working). Checking today I see that the file has been replaced and has now the expected 10k. So it was likely a glitch.

BTW: It apparently affected only SEC5.0 and not 5.1 where the feed is processed differently.
