Shh/Updater problem

I have been trying to get my network [12 clients (win 7) and one server (win2008)] to funcyion again. My sophos Enterprise Console is version 4.0.0.2362 and Endpoint Security is ver 9.5. I have tried following the various "fixes" that Sophos staff have sent to me but I get stumped on the first step.

In Enterprise Console I must activate Sophos Live Protection from the View/Edit Policy, unfortunately there is no button for this in my version. Am I doing something wrong or being stupid. I have watched the video of how to do this and my version does not have the Sophos Live  Protection button in the Policy window.

If anyone could help I will be eternally grateful.

Many thanks in advance.

PS I am not an IT expert, just a normal guy so please bear that in mind when / if you reply :)

  • Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, the option is not present in your current version of SEC. If you are able to upgrade this (at a less stressful time) this will allow you to do so in the future.

For the moment SOPHOS has been working on an executable for your endpoints to run once you have SUM (The Sophos Update Manager on the SEC console) updating again. The KBA for this is located here:

  • Hi JoltCube,

Many thanks for your reply, I have downloaded the various files and made them available, to use on the server, unfortunately I have an appointment tonight so will not have the time to try it out, I will do so tomorrow and let you know how I get along.

It should be straightforward as I had left everything in both EC and Endpoint on the default settings after installation, so hopefully it will do the job without too many complications.

By the way I have already done the following

Renamed file ps.crl, then started ALMon.exe, and the icon reappeared in the system tray, but trying to update the definitions by right clicking the icon did not work, I hope this does not have any effect on your solution you sent to me?

Again my thanks to you and hope this all gets settled.

  • Hi JoltCube,

Me again, having trouble installing the scripten software onto the server. It says I do not have enough space, but on the 3 drives I have 40%, 70% and 80% free amounting to about 400Gb. Can you help on this?

  • Morning AndyE, was that error if you run the exe local to the box or was that the vbs script? Internal testing hos been fine on drives with much less space so i wouldnt have expected to see this error.

  • Now I have been advised by the French side of Sophos that I should upgrade to EC 5, but that is all he says, but not sure this is good advice until I have sorted this mess out first.. Anyones thoughts on this would be welcome, as I am starting to get a little bit confused with all the different "solutions" I am being offered and so far none seem to be working.

  • I downloaded the file to desktop and ran it from there by double clicking it.

  • It is the scripten.exe file that comes up with the startup error "not enought storage for installation" then a second error says it was not installed.

  • What is the OS and language of this system? We have identified a bug in the toll which we ar eworking on at the moment that may affect French systems, could you raise a helpdesk ticket and include the logs for this issue. Please respond in this thread with the case number so i can get this investgated faster, thank you.
