Cleanup Sophos clients after redirecting to another SEC

I've setup a new SEC and redirected the clients to that new SEC by changing the necessary files on the old SUM to point to the new SEC.

My issue now is that all machines in the old SEC are at "waiting for profile" which I believe is correct as a selected number of machines are now appearing in the new SEC correctly.

I'd like to make sure that all machines have actually been moved over to the new SEC.  This includes machines that have not yet reported into the old SEC and machines that may still be reporting into the old SEC.

I don't have any faith in the GUI is there another method of checking through logs etc.??

  • Hello aburrow,

I don't have any faith in the GUI

as far as mangement is concerned, it is the authoritative source of information. I've recently gone through it (and not for the first time).

A machine will show up on one of the servers - assuming your old management server is still running. If there is an issue with RMS re-initialization it will continue to report to the old one. Otherwise it should appear on the new one. If the client appears disconnected in both consoles and you know it is online then there's clearly an issue.

Did you configure RMS in the old CID or what does changing the necessary files include?

machines that have not yet reported into the old SEC

Where could they have been installed from? Even if they were using a package generated from the old unconfigured CID they should pick up the changes with the next update (and until then they likely have briefly reported to the old one).
