Remove Sophos Client from Domain Controller (2008 R2)

Hello everyone.

We have a problem with installing sophos from one of our secondary domain controllers (i know its not called PDC anymore but heck).

We are running a Windows 2008 R2 and need to uninstall sophos.

We can uninstall remote management and autoupdate. But if we uninstall sophos we get the 'Error 3005.Sophos Anti-Virus can only be uninstalled by users that are members of the SophosAdministrator users group.'

Because it is a domain controller it does not have the traditional 'Local Users and Groups', we do have a 'SophosAdministrator' group placed  in our Domain Users - OrganisationUnit, and the admin account used for the removal is added there.

We did used the 'Authenticate user' function and disabled the 'Tamper protection'.

We still get the 'Error 3005' msg.:catsurprised:

We need to uninstall because sophos is sucking up 2gig of memory, we like to try a fresh installation after we deleted a couple of windows updates.

  • This seems to be a nasty problem.

Of you dont have 'SophosAdministrator' user selected as Currect User in your Product Information page (under help tab) this could help you: >>LINK<<

My problem is not fixxed with reseting SID, error is still there. The search continues..
