Change language blocked page 'web control' policy

Hello everyone,

We are using 'Inappropriate Website Control' and it works perfectly.

The only problem is that some of our users cannot read english, very sad i know.

Is there a way we can change the text shown by sophos when a page is blocked?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Here is an example of a page that is blocked:

Warning: Questionable website
  • Location: *******************************
  • Your organization's policy is set to warn on websites categorized as Hacking.
  • Return to the page you were previously viewing.
  • [Return to Previous Page][link]
  • Proceed to this website at your own discretion.

  • Hello Testpilot,

which language should it be? Right now there are only a few available and the display depends on the locale used with the default for unsupported ones being English.

  • Hi Christian.

The language should be 'Dutch', don't think that it is a supported language, this because our country is rather small compared to other countries in the EU.

The only thing i can think of is that we modify the HTML website used by sophos with text that is in our own language.

But we cannot find the location of that 'blocked' page used by sophos.

  • Hello Arris,

actually there aren't many supported languages. Anyway it is not some page you could modify which is being displayed. Localization is done with DLLs, those for Web Control are in the \Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\Web Control program directory (and signed).

I agree that these pages should preferably be in the user's locale (and perhaps even customizable like the icon messages). For now all you can do is submit a feature request (e.g. using the support form).

  • Hello Christian,

I was affraid of that. Better not mess with those DLL files i guess.

Thanks for looking into this, we will submit a feature request using the support form as you have advised.

    Arris.
