GPO question

Hi,

I found the following page which is very interesting: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/13090.aspx

but I have another question about it. It checks whether Sophis has been installed already, but would it also be possible to check for instance the update path. So when it isn't it can launch the reinstallation. the reason why I'm asking this is because we just changed from domains and some pc's don't update correctly. Would this be possible and if so how should I do this?

Hello, it should be possible 2 options spring to mind:
1. Parse iconn.cfg looking for the update path.

2. Use the automation DLL of AutoUpdate as detailed here:
http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/36262.aspx
to get the updating path.
The second option is probably cleanest but would probably require the other script to be converted into VBS.
Is this enough of a pointer?

Thank you, that could be very interesting. I checked my iconn.cfg file and I think I need to check the field ConnectionAddress, do you agree?

Yeah, something like:

@echo off
find /c "ConnectionAddress = test.net/.../&quot; "C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\iconn.cfg"
if errorlevel 1 goto notfound
echo found
goto done
:notfound
echo notfound
goto done
:done

Could work. May need to check both paths for iconn.cfg.
