Update AV but my AV Updater IS THE VIRUS - no updates!! 'Shh/Updater-B

Hmmm...How do we update our antivirus when every time you go to update Sophos thinks the updater is a virus and quarantines it? Interesting that we can't even get the updates. Not sure how to get around this one.

    Try turning off on-access scanning on your machines

    -wait until the policy applies

    -update

    -re-enable on-access scanning.

    You will be unprotected for a few min while the access scanning is turned off, but it should stop quarantining itself.

    unless it quarantines the part of sophos that does the updates and accepts policy changes

    we were unable to push out policy to the affected machines and have been visiting them individually.

    turn off "on-access" scanning

    clear quarantine

    run c:\program files\sophos\autoupdate\almon.exe (or program files (x86)

    right click on shield in system tray and update

    turn "on-access" scanning back on
