  • Hello Azwan,

if you use a message relay you configure the CID accordingly by putting the appropriate mrinit.conf in the CID's \rms folder. Clients installing from this CID will therefore use the specified relay. If mrinit.conf is changed (and ConfigCID.exe called to update the catalog) the client will download it and reinitialize RMS. Likewise if the client is directed to another CID it will apply the mrinit.conf found there. Thus assuming you have your management server and two relays (say, SMR1 and SMR2) and the according CIDs (CID-R1 and CID-R2) a client currently updating from CID-R1 and using SMR1 will, after it has been instructed to update from CID-R2 and downloaded from there, reinitialize RMS and start using SMR2. Note that the client will keep the mrinit.conf used at install time (as mrinit.conf.orig) and will "fall back" to it if it encounters an unconfigured CID so it's a good idea to make sure that all CIDs have the correct configuration, even those which do not specify a relay.

  • Hello Azwan,

RMS works like this for a long time. There's one twist though: If location roaming is enabled the client will not reconfigure RMS.

  • I'd been trying to figure out why my new RMS relay wasn't working, just had to turn off the location roaming.  Kudos to you :)
