Can you Have a Linux server as a Sohpos Update Manager?

Hi I am looking to create a sophos installation for our home users. The only 2 external facing servers we have are both linux based. I would like to have the Sophos installer I offer to our home users to be able to update from one of these servers.  I have thought of having a script that copies the update files from our internal windows SUM to the Linux server  but not sure how this will work for example how to set the update location in the sophos package for home users.

Has anyone done this before, is it even possible.

Abraham

  • Hello abraham,

We run a similar setup. I mount the sophos cid directory from our win sophos server on a local linux server and rsync it to an external linux server which publishes the directory via htaccess protected apache. I created an update policy for home users with our external http location and daily create an updated sophos package with this policy with a batch file.
