Setting up an testing enviroment for sophos endpoint security and control 10

Is it possible to set up an testing enviroment for sophos endpoint security and control 10 next to a an existing enviroment that is allready in use with endpoint security and control 9.7?

We are using webbased apllications and we don't wan't to be suprised by the 'web' security of Sophos.

  • Hello Kor,

for one thing, you can use SEC4.7 (I assume this is what you have) and add a subscription for SAV10.0. There are some new settings (HIPS) you can't fully manage with SEC4.7 but it should be sufficient to test the behaviour of the LSP.

You can also set up an additional management server with SEC5.0 (if you are adventurous you could even use a copy of your existing database to test migration). If you export and import the certificates before install (as mentioned for example here) you can easily "move" selected clients between the production and the test server by creating additional updating policies which point to the other server (i.e. on your production system create an additional policy , say, Test which points to \\Testserver\SophosUpdate and v.v. on the test server one  with \\ProdServer\SophosUpdate).  If you also configure RMS in the prod and test CIDs as per article 113824 clients will report to the correct server once they've updated from the relevant CID. This way you can easily up- and downgrade the clients as needed (but note the restart requirements).
