Multiple Errors in Enterprise 4.0

I have several computers on my network that I can't seem to get rid of 00000067 update errors with different descriptions. The Enterprise console we are using is 4.0, here are the following errors I am getting.

Failed to install SAVXP: A previous version could not be uninstalled (x2 computers)

Failed to install SAVXP: An unknown exception has occurred

Failed to install SAVXP: Package authentication failed

  • Hello Jason,

you didn't say which SAV version and whether you attempted to upgrade (7.x -> 9.0).

Let's start with the easy one: An unknown exception has occurred. Well, the best I can come up with is an unknown solution :smileywink:. Joking aside - you'll have to check the client's logs. Start with the ALUpdate....logs %ProgramFiles%\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Logs  and also check the Sophos logs in the system temp directory (usually C:\WINDOWS\Temp).

A previous version could not be uninstalled. The logs in the TEMP directory should tell you more. Question is which version they are trying to uninstall. Another option is to try to uninstall manually and then reprotect the computer(s).

Package authentication failed. It is said that outdated certificates could be the reason. I have seen this only in clients which really had an outdated version of SAV running and have been off the net for a very long time. Another possible reason is a corrupt download (which sometimes is not corrected in the next cycle for whatever reason) and I've found that re-downloading the complete package(s) by clearing the %ProgramFiles%\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Cache\ helps.

If these don't solve your issues come back with as many details as possible. Otherwise please tell us how you solved them as this will help others with similar problems.

    Christian
