Sophos 4.5 Backup

Hi,

We've got to upgrade our SEC 4.5 to the latest version 5.2.1.

Before we can do this we need to backup our current install. I have looked on line and found the following article How to back up and restore your Sophos Management Server.

I will backup the DBs (on an SQL server), and can do this via SQL Server Enterprise Console. However I'm not sure how to backup the Console\Management server.

The article relates to Enterprise Console 5.1 so refers to registry values that don't exist. Are there any instructions for backing up a 4.5 Enterprise Console server, or any steps I should carry out?

Hi Paul,
I believe you already know that you need to upgrade to SEC 5.1 , before you upgrade to SEC 5.2.
Here's the link for the upgrade guide to SEC 5.1
Some registry that mentioned on were not existed since you were still using version SEC 4.5. You can check this migration guide to check which registry key you need to backup on SEC 4.x. I guess it's only the HKLM/Software/Sophos/Certification Manager and HKLM/Software/Sophos/EE/Management Tools that need to be back-up.
For Backing up the database you can use the backup script : backupdb.bat , please check this kb on how to use .
