  • Hi,

The first thing to know, is what direction are the majority heading?  Are they upstream, i.e. to the management server from clients, i.e. status messages or events, or are they downstream messages from the management server to the clients, e.g. action or set config?

Note: The .msg files are just text and you can see the type, source and destination.

You typically expect a few downstream messages to build up when you push a policy or perform an action on a client and it's offline.  In this case the .msg will sit for up to 4 days until it reaches its TTL value. For more info see: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/113417.aspx.

Upstream messages should never queue apart from on the endpoints when they are offline (can't access their parent)  but assuming all computers are connected.  The messages should flow from:

Client Router to Relay Router to Management Router to Management Service to Database.

Could it be that there are a large number of events coming from one or two clients?

Th following tool may help you with this analysis:

    Jak
