Firewall Config File

Greetings All,

I am attempting to deploy Sophos to a 5,000 + community and am wondering how I can automatically import my FW config file to each new installation w/ out going through the manual process described on the Sophos site (below):

Importing

Warning: The following instructions will overwrite all of your current Sophos Client Firewall settings with those from the imported file. Make a backup of your existing configuration before importing the new one.

Importing with Sophos Control Center.

Open Sophos Control Center.
In the menu bar, select Action|Advanced firewall configuration.
In the General tab, select 'Import'.
Browse to your saved configuration and select it.
Click 'Open'.
Ensure that the following are selected:
Load the general configuration
Load the global and application rules
Overwrite
Click 'OK'.

Is the file located in a specific directory that I can simply overwrite w/ a copy from my machine?

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Jak,

Thanks very much for the insight thus far.

One additional query I have is that I installed Sophos 9.55 on a Win 7 system succesfully (FW enabled). I then uninstalled the software and installed it again using the exact same installer but the FW was set to "Allow all traffic". Do you have any idea why it would apply this seeminly random setting when it is not defined in the installer and was not set previously on the system?

    Thanks again!
