Activate Sophos 955 firewall w/o reboot?

Good evenining,

Is it possible to activate the Firewall without a reboot after an installation? Also, my team and I have seen after an installation of Sophos 9.55 and a reboot we have seen the Firewall is disabled. If there a command line arguement that will enable the FW if it does not start post-reboot?

  • Hello darms21,

activating the SCF after an install or upgrade requires a reboot due to architectural reasons.

we have seen the Firewall is disabled

The two firewall services are configured to start automatically with the SCF service depending on the SCF manger service (and both on RPC). If they are not - there should be an error recorded in the Event Log.

If set to Allow all traffic the firewall appears as Disabled (Enabled/No) in SEC and the Sophos icon and GUI on the local machine.
