Updating IDE manually

We have some machines that never goes online, but still need IDE.

I have downloaded the IDEs and extracted them in the the  C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus-folder.

But when I check the IDE in Sophos Endpoint Security and Control->View Product Information->Anti-virus and HIPS->Software->Detection Data,  the IDE information remains unchanged.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to update the Detection Data information?

    Hi,

    Just dropping ide files in to the directory is not really recommended, you would have to restart the SAVService also.  i would suggest a better approach might be as follows:
     

    I assume that you have Enterprise Console installed somewhere and this is creating a distribution location?


    Copy the SAVSCFXP directory, i.e.:

     \\[secserver]\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP \

    to the client without internet access and bootstrap the client from that CID, i.e. run setup.exe

    To update the client, periodically, just copy over the distribution location again to the same location (E.g C:\SophosUpdate\SAVSCFXP\) as AutoUpdate will still be pointing at this location.  On the next update it will update.  This will take care of major updates and minor ones also.

    I assume this machine is totally cut off and therefore you don't want RMS installed. In which case you may want to run setup,exe with the switch "-mng no".  Please see: http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/12570.html for more info on how to install using switches.
