Entire Set of Computers Disconnected

I'm starting to think Sophos was set up horribly incorrect by my predecessor as I continue to experience issues with this.

We have a number of sites and relays. I have one relay site where suddenly, as of a few days ago, all computers, except for three, are showing up as disconnected. They all stopped communicating back with the SEC around the exact same time. No changes were made to the relay. There are no other problems like that at the other relay sites. I've checked service settings on the server, the relays look identical in set up in the registry and under services.

I've restarted the services. Curious if anyone here has dealt with this at all? Look disheartening to see 3 computers connected and 390 disconnected at one site.

  • Hi,

The first thing I would check is if the relay itself is connected, if you're running SEC 4.7 there is a last message time column to understand what's going on.  Also as part of SEC 4.7; the management service performs a house-keeping task every 24 hours and this will disconnect machines where the last message time is older than 24 hours.

The main aim would be to get the relay logged on to the router on the management server.  I would think once this is connected up the clients behind the relay will start messaging again.  It might be worth restarting the router on the managment server as well as the relay.
