Web Protection is no longer functional... Reported in SEC

Hey,

I noticed in just the past few days I have had the following message popping up on just a few clients.

Web Protection is no longer functional. The filtering driver has been bypassed or unloaded.

I read that you can either re-protect the clients showing this error message or you can attempt to relad the driver itself (found in Sophos KB). This is fine and is a fairly straight forward fix.

I was just wondering if anyone else is seeing this message on their console though?

This is the first time I'm seeing this error and the fact that it is more then one client has me a little worried.

Also, if I re-protect the clients, should this message clear itself from the SEC? Or do I have to acknowledge the error and then watch to see if the client reports the message again?

  • Hey, thanks for the reply.

    I am still unsure of what caused it on our machines.

    It ended up only showing a few so I didn't worry to much.

    I reinstalled the Client, then cleared the notification from the SEC and so far

    I haven't seen any new messages.
