Hi,

just came across this article http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/14135.aspx.

We also have a lot of messages with this error mentioned in the kb article.

What exactly does this article mean? Does it mean Sophos is unable to scan password protected files?

In my opinion the article says exactly this.

You are correct. I did a misthinking because Sophos does not speak of encrypted files, only password protected once, which is different to me.
