Hi,

just came across this article http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/14135.aspx.

We also have a lot of messages with this error mentioned in the kb article.

What exactly does this article mean? Does it mean Sophos is unable to scan password protected files?

In my opinion the article says exactly this.

    Yes, how could it be able to do so (other than by attempting to crack the password) - isn't that the main purpose of encryption? Thus a scan fails for encrypted files (but note that the unencrypted parts - like the bootstrap code for self-extractors - are still subject to scanning as are all de-/unencrypted temporary files).
