SAV Dynamic Interface service

Hello

I'm trying to configure my SAV Dynamic Interface service to run as limited user (not LOCAL SYSTEM or member of Administrators group). My system is Windows 2008 Standard x86 with SP2 installed. SAV Dynamic Interface version is 1.0.

When I try to start this service, i receive an "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". When I start the service as user which is a member of Administrators group, everything is working fine.

is it possible to run this service as normal user? Do I need to set special system privileges for this user, or change permissions to resources? If yes, what should I change?

  • I am having somewhat of a similar problem.  I have a user with local administrator privileges, who found out that the network admins can browse his C$ without him knowing.  He has enough knowledge to be dangerous, and consequently removed all user accounts from the C drive security tab except for the local administrators group and system.

We have attempted to restore the default security settings, and everything seems to be working well EXCEPT the Sophos endpoint client.  It has the little red x on the systray icon, and the following services will not start, yielding the "Error 1053" message.

    Service that will not start:

    - Sophos Agent

    - Sophos Anti-Virus

    - Sophos Message Router

    - Sophos Web Intelligence Service

I am positive that we just missed restoring a critical security privilege for some folder.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
