Clients differ from policy and use 99% cpu

We're having an issue where some clients differ from our policy. If the client differs from policy the savservice ends up using 99-100% of their cpu and renders the computer unusable. We are currently using version 9.7 but it was an issue in previous versions. When I tell the client from the enterprise console to apply with policy it will and the cpu usage instantly drops.

What can I do to prevent these clients from differing from the policy? Is there a reason why this can happen? I was unable to find any logs to view, is there somewhere I can look?

Thanks for any input.

  • Hello Chadd,

    can't tell you what the issue is but to view the policy difference turn on the Agent trace (restart required) with the regkey:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE[\Wow6432Node ]\Sophos\Remote Management System\ManagementAgent]
    "LogLevel"=dword:00000002

    The log is in [%ALLUSERSPROFILE %\Application Data|%ProgramData%]\Sophos\Remote Management System\3\Agent\Logs.
