Backup of interchk.chk file

I am just wondering if it is a problem to not backup the interchk.chk file. It appears that this file is always in use and therefore is skipped during backup. If we had to restore a system, is this file needed or will it recreate itself?

The location of the file is: Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\Config\interchk.chk

Thank you,

  • HI,

No need to worry about backing it up. This is the file SAV uses to record what it's already scanned to save scanning it again while the threat data is unchanged.  After an update it counts for nothing so is essentially re-built.  No need to back it up, you can think of it as a temporary file.
